Product Information
Features a brand new starter motor from Bosch and corresponding installation hardware and gaskets
Starter motor failure is common on N51/N52, N54, and N55 engines. This starter motor kit from FCP Euro includes a brand new Bosch starter along with the OE fasteners required for installation. The bolts in particular are important as the long starter motor bolt provides the ground for the starter motor to the engine block. Aftermarket bolts with a coating will prevent a ground from occurring resulting in a no start or intermittent no start condition. Replacement intake manifold gaskets are also included as its easiest to remove the intake manifold to gain access to the starter motor bolts from the top of the engine.
Key installation information
Both M10 starter motor bolts are torqued to 35Nm, original starter motor bolts must not be reused. The alternator positive battery cable 8mm flange nut is torqued to 15Nm. It is critical to not over-torque this fastener. as it can damage the starter motor. Intake manifold M7 nuts are torqued to 15Nm while the single M7 hex bolt is also torqued to 15Nm.
Starter motors are what get your engine running. In order for an engine to start it must be rotating. The starter motor spins the engine via the flywheel or flex plate while fuel is injected into the engine. Starter motors are very robust and have a long service life but can fail. A failed starter motor will prevent you from being able to start your car.
