As the inventor of modern electronic fuel injection systems, Bosch has had their hand in all areas of fuel injection. Their modern port injectors are available in several varieties and can be interchanged with the right parts. The EV14 is arguably the most versatile, with different lengths and electrical connections that fit everything from MINI Coopers, Volkswagen GTIs, and BMW E36 M3s to Nissan 370Zs and the Chevrolet LS engines.

The Bosch 0280158117 injector carries a 550cc flow rate, large enough to be considered an upgrade for many of Europe’s tuner engines. The top-feed design is the modern standard, and its “mid-length” size makes it a near drop-in for an extensive list of engines like the Porsche 996/997 Turbos, R53 MINIs, and Mercedes AMG products. For others, like the B5 S4, different length tips can be retrofitted for an even wider engine application.

Bosch 0280158117 Fitment & Requirements

The 550cc injectors are an upgrade for many models, but each will need some variation of modification for smooth installation. Mercedes M113-equipped models like the E55 AMG and SL55 AMG can use these injectors with a jumper harness as the EV14 USCAR-style connector isn’t the same as the Mercedes’ EV6 Jetronic-style. The supercharged 1.6L in the R53 MINI will need the harness adapter and significant engine modification, including cams, different pulleys, and head work to take full advantage of the injector. Volkswagen and Audi 1.8t owners rejoice as these are direct drop-ins, and no harness adapter is necessary, although engine work and an ECU tune are necessary. Be sure to research your model further to determine exactly the parts you’ll need to run these injectors.
