If your BMW's rear end feels like its wandering or suffers from a vibration it could be very well due to faulty ball joints. This ball joint sits in the rear wheel carrier and acts as a pivot point for the lower control arm in relation to the wheel carrier. After thousands of miles of driving and exposure to the elements it is not uncommon for the rubber to fatigue and for this ball joint to fail.
While removing the ball joint it is also vital to replace the integral link along with hardware, in particular the 24mm self locking nut that secures the long bolt to the swing arm.
