Product Information

Monitors the thickness of your BMW's brake pads, trips the dash light when the brake pads have reached their minimum thickness

This simple electronic device is a safety feature that is standard equipment on your BMW from the factory. The premise of this part is very simple, to alert you when your brake pads have reached their minimum safe thickness. This sensor clips onto the brake shim and once the brake pads wear down enough the sensor comes in contact with the brake rotor which sets off the service indicator.

When replacing your BMW's brake pads it is critical to replace this sensor. Even if it hasn't been tripped this sensor can be impossible to remove from the old pads and they often brake upon removal. Replacing this sensor is a required replacement with every brake pad service.

Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor

Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensors, or Brake Pad Sensor, as they're commonly called, are used as an instrument to alert the driver when the brake pads of the vehicle are at a low level and are in need of replacement. Operation of the sensor is simple where it is wired to the brake control module with 12v and when the brake pad becomes low enough, the sensor will ultimately surface and make contact with the rotor which in turn grounds the sensor and completes the circuit which triggers the light in your instrument cluster. The Brake Pad Wear Sensor is recommended to be replaced at the time of brake pad replacement.
