Product Information

Kit includes an OE replacement VDO eccentric shaft sensor along with replacement valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, and other required parts for installing a new Valvetronic sensor

The Valvetronic sensor measures the position of the eccentric shaft in the cylinder head which controls the variable valve lift system on the intake side of the engine. The Valvetronic system essentially controls the engine speed by varying the lift of the intake valves. If this sensor fails it can cause an erratic idle, stalling, and poor power delivery. To replace this sensor you must remove the valve cover which will involve replacing all of the associated gaskets and seals.

Please note: The new Valvetronic sensor includes encapsulated bolts. They must be torqued to 10Nm (88 in lbs). Chemical sealants are not required when installing a new valve cover gasket on an N52N/N51 engine. The torx screws on for the Valvetronic actuator are torqued to 10Nm (88 in lbs). The screws on the perimeter of the valve cover are torqued to 9Nm (80 in lbs). N51 and N52N engines use a plastic valve cover and DO NOT require new valve cover fasteners.
