Product Information
Kit includes an OE replacement VDO eccentric shaft sensor along with replacement valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, and other required parts for installing a new Valvetronic sensor
The Valvetronic sensor measures the position of the eccentric shaft in the cylinder head which controls the variable valve lift system on the intake side of the engine. The Valvetronic system essentially controls the engine speed by varying the lift of the intake valves. If this sensor fails it can cause an erratic idle, stalling, and poor power delivery. To replace this sensor you must remove the valve cover which will involve replacing all of the associated gaskets and seals.
Please note: The new Valvetronic sensor includes encapsulated bolts. They must be torqued to 10Nm (88 in lbs). Chemical sealants are not required when installing a new valve cover gasket on an N52 engine. Be sure to clean all sealing surface before installing the valve cover. DO NOT use any abrasives to clean the sealing surface. The valve cover screws must be replaced. Use the screws included with the kit and torque to 7Nm (~62 in lbs) + 90°.
