A failing wheel bearing will make a lot of tell tale sounds. A good example of this is a humming sound at highway speeds. Additionally, a bad wheel bearing will also make groaning or clunking sounds while turning. If your BMW's wheel bearings are making this noise we highly recommend immediate replacement.
Please note: The front wheel bearing and hub assemblies can be installed on the stub shaft in a variety of ways, FCP Euro recommends using special tool 312 110 to ensure an easy and correct installation of the assembly onto the stub shaft. The axle nut after installation must be torqued to 290Nm. Before installing the dust cap apply a thin coating of sealant on the sealing surface. This will ensure moisture stays out of the bearing.
Typically a wheel bearing is a set of steel balls within a metal ring, which is called a race. At the center of your wheels, there is a hollow piece of metal, called a hub. The wheel bearings resides inside the hub and helps to reduce friction when the wheel spins.
