Product Information

This PCV valve diaphragm is the common failure point inside the oil filter housing 31338685 found on most late model Volvo 'RNC' 5 cylinder engines. When the diaphragm fails, a whistling air noise can be heard coming from the engine at idle.

We partnered with CRP Industries to develop an alternative to replacing the entire housing, using the actual Genuine parts as a template to produce an exact OEM quality replacement. Volvo does not offer this part by itself, requiring you to replace the entire oil filter housing to fix the issue. We are happy to provide the CRP Industries PCV Diaphragm as an FCP Euro exclusive!

To replace, use a thin screwdriver or blade to pry open the plastic press-fit cap to the cylindrical valve housing located next to the oil filter cap. This can be accessed without removing the oil filter housing from the engine, however, we do recommend removing the housing to inspect/clean carbon in high mileage engines. Take note of the orientation of the PCV diaphragm when removing, and be aware there is a spring inside that will come loose when opening.
