Is it OK to mount in the engine compartment as a part of the pressure regulator next to the carburetor? What is a fuel pressure isolator?

Thank you for your question. We do not recommend mounting in the engine compartment as this gauge is not designed to withstand that type of environment. If you wanted to mount a gauge in the engine compartment, part #2172 would be a similar gauge made to be installed inside the engine compartment. A fuel pressure isolator allows you to run the tubing to it rather than the gauge, which lets you keep tubing filled with fuel out of the passenger compartment. The Isolator would be mounted behind the fire wall and then the gauge would connect to the isolator. The fuel would run to the isolator and then the isolator would send a signal to the gauge.

Hi there, thank you for the question. This is not a vehicle specific gauge. It's designed to fit into a 2-5/8" diameter hole and should only be mounted outside of the vehicle unless you're using a Fuel Pressure Isolator.
