I have this going into a 700R4 transmission. It sticks out kind of far and is close to the exhaust pipe. I wrapped the pipe to reduce the heat. Can you tell me the temperature rating of this? Do you have a way to mount it closer to the transmission?

There wouldn't be a way to shorten the vehicle speed sensor. As for the operating temperature, the unit can operate within -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius. For further assistance, please contact us at 866-248-6357.

Hi, Installing a 2 wire VSS that came with the Auto Meter Gauge Kit. Do I need to trim the Speedo Shaft ? When I install onto GM 350 Trans. the VSS spins around even though the two mounting nuts are tight. Thanks.

i have one of these and the Autometer Speedo Taco combo, it wont cabibrate, could this be faulty? it dosnt count anything on the LCD odometer screen as suggested in the calibration paper work.

If you have a transmission that only has a mechanical output for the speed signal, this or the 5291 would be able to thread on to a dry cavity and produce an electrical signal to work with the speedometer.

This sensor is designed to drive our electric speedometers. It will not properly provide a signal to an OEM speedometer.

This sensor will work with your GM transmission. It was designed for use with our speedometers, we cannot be sure as to use with competitors speedometers.

We're not sure what that original speedometer output would be. If it's 7/8-18, our 5291 or 5293 would work. Alternatively, we offer a 5290 universal sender as well as our 5289 GPS sender.

If you are using another speedometer that is not Autometer, our sensor will not be compatible with it. Also, if I am not mistaken, the 700R4 transmission has its own VSS.

This will not be compatible. It may actually drive your speedometer, but it will be far too few pulses per rev/mile to be accurate. This is around 16,000 PPM, while many OEMs require as many as 40,000 PPM or more per mile.
