I want to use the VSS output on the speedometer as input on a Rostra cruise control unit. The Rostra unit has dip switches that need to be set based on the number of pulses per mile (PPM) from the VSS. How many PPM are used to generate the VSS output?

The is a tricky one, as not all vehicles are the same when it comes to VSS. However, our speedometers do show you the PPR which is 16,000 from factory. Please keep in mind that this does change after you have gone through your calibration to set the speedometer to the vehicle's VSS and wheel setup. Once this is calibrated, a new PPR will be displayed very briefly allowing you to see this should assist you with setting up the cruise control unit. However, if there are any issues with the PPR not being able to set up correctly you may need to use our GPS unit 5289 in order to keep the stock 16,000 PPR on the speedometer.

Hello! Check the output from the speed sensor to see if the speedometer is getting a signal. There are two different tests depending on the type of sending unit you’re using, which are shown in a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5khjYulTLQ&feature=emb_logo

I purchased this speedometer to use on a street rod project with a 4L60E. You responded a few years ago to acquire the signal from the ECM. Can you tell me what wire from the ECM is the signal?

Ken,
The best source for a signal to drive this speedometer is directly from the VSS High signal wire at the speed sensor itself.
Thanks,
Jim

My 1932 Ford dash panel calls for 3 3/8" speedo. Is there any way that # 880355 can be fitted with a frame for that size? The other gauges in the Masterpiece set are 2 1/16" and will fit fine. Please advise.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not sell a speed sensor that would work for your transfer case. We recommend to use our GPS module P/N: 5289 in order to obtain a speed signal for your gauge.
