Basic control arm bushing kit that features left and right OE Lemforder control arm bushings with installation hardware
The purpose of the lower control arm bushings is to secure the lower wishbones to the chassis of your M3. Over the course of tens of thousands of miles these bushings are known to fail. When these bushings fail is allows for excessive movement of the lower control arm which drastically reduces handling performance. Additionally, failure of these bushings will also cause knocking sounds while traveling over bumps in the road.
This basic kit from FCP Euro features the lower left and lower right bushings from OE supplier Lemforder. Includes with this kit are 4 new hex bolts which secure the control arm bushing brackets to the chassis. This kit is ideal for replacing the bushings when the control arms are in great shape.
Control arms are links that help connect and stabilize the vehicle's suspension to the subframe of the vehicle. Many vehicle’s, while varying in suspension layout, will have control arms with serviceable bushings and/or joints on either end where they meet the undercarriage or spindle of the vehicle.
Suspension Control Arm Bushing Kit Failure SymptomsAs the rubber on these bushings degrades or cracks they will no longer provide a rigid connection and cause problems in handle and ride quality. Often times to save time and cost it is possible to press out the original worn bushing and press in a replacement instead of replacing the complete control arm. Common failure symptoms of faulty control arms bushings include:
- Uneven tire wear and inability to align vehicle
- Poor handling characteristics
- Loud clunking, metal on metal sounds, suspension buckling
- Vibration or wobble in the steering wheel
- Banging sound over bumps
