Product Information
The throttle body actuators for the S65 V8 are a fairly common issue on higher mileage cars. The most common failure is the gear drive mechanism wears over time. Because the left and right banks need to be balanced in terms of air intake any imbalance from improper throttle response from the throttle body actuators will cause a limp mode running condition.
Common fault codes associated with a failing or failed throttle body actuator are as follows:
2B15 – Throttle Valve Actuator Governor Monitoring/Control Bank 1
2B16 – Throttle Valve Actuator Governor Monitoring/Control Bank 2
2B21 – Throttle Valve Actuator Pre-drive Check Bank 1
2B22 – Throttle Valve Actuator Pre-drive Check Bank 2
2B25 – Throttle Valve Monitoring Bank 1
2B26 – Throttle Valve Monitoring Bank 2
While there are options for repairing throttle body actuators the time it takes to remove, open/inspect/repair, and reinstall is a much larger investment than simply replacing the throttle body actuators with these updated versions. FCP Euro recommends replacing throttle body actuators in matched pairs for the best possible service life.
After installation of the throttle body actuators, it is essential to carry out a throttle valve actuator system test with the BMW diagnosis system.
