Product Information

This electric actuator sits inside the cylinder head and controls the position of the intermediate shaft to control intake variable valve lift. This Valvetronic actuator is part of BMW's third generation of the system and works both as the actuator and the sensor which were previously separate parts.

When this actuator fails it will typically be at the minimal lift position which means the engine develops no more power than it can at idle speed. It is located in a recess in the cylinder head and involves the removal of the injectors, ignition coils, and recess wells in order to remove the actuator.
