UMI Performance 64-72 GM A-Body Tall Spindle 2in Drop

2″ drop spindles, manufactured by Speedway Motors, have a number of features suited to high performance GM A-Body cars. The spindles are 2″ drop to give a great stance. Camber gain is improved by increasing the spindle height 1.75″ above stock. These strong, race proven spindles are coated in tough UMI satin black powder coat for corrosion protection and a stealth appearance. The spindles use period correct GM A-Body bearings and seals and also accept most aftermarket brake kits intended to fit the factory spindle. The increased spindle height requires the use of a shortened upper a-arm such as UMI 4056-1. Race proven on the UMI LeMans.

Technical notes: These spindles have two distinct attributes which contribute to a great handling car. Two inch drop lowers the center of gravity and improves appearance. The tall-ness of the spindle, which is the distance between the two ball joints, is increased by 1.75″ over stock. This improves the camber gain and raises the roll center height. Factory GM A-Body cars suffered greatly in these 2 categories. When you can improve the contact patch, the car handles better. Also, when we raise the roll center height (different than the Center of Gravity height) the car leans less in the corners and just plain tends to work better.
